So excited to get this! I was afraid it was gonna be difficult to install but was really easy. I installed it all by myself. I love this and not having to pull out keys is the best. I realized how convenient it was by not having to pull them out for my car & wished I had that for my house & voila! Most keyless entry's to homes has a code. This has a fingerprint or code & also comes with keys. You should get this! My only concern is how long these batteries will last, LOL
I watched the how-to video that the instructions linked me to. There are many steps but if you start and stop the video as you move through them it is not difficult to do. Just make sure that both your existing deadbolt (if you have one on the door) and the new one line up with the strike plates. I had to move my deadbolt strike plate over just a smidge so that they both completely latch when closed. I like the look of this, very modern and clean. It recognizes my fingerprint and my daughter's so we don't have to fumble with keys in the dark anymore. Just place your thumb on the sensor and it turns greeb, beeps and lets you in. Also, if you are outside doing things and going in and out, the door remains locked at all times while you come in and out. You can also set it to not be locked all the time. The instrucitons on how to program it is a little involved, but once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. I had dirt on my hands the other day and the sensor wasn't recognizing me so I used my pin code instead. It's nice to have a choice. This also comes with two thin but sturdy keys so in case the batteries on the door handle go out, you have a back-up to get inside.
Installed on master door to keep toddler out of the room. Works perfect and easy to install and set up. Will look into getting another in the future.
overall I really like the door knob. we have yet to get finger print reader to work...its probably just us but we barely got the code to work. I hope we never need to get in in a hurry because it takes a couple times to get it activated to light up in order to put the code in. the instructions were not super goof for normal people who aren't into electronic and techy stuff. but we use keys but kids love trying to putting code in. again it's probably just us because there is nothing wrong with the item just dumb owners...
Very easy to set up and even register finger prints, I had to set up multiple finger prints using the same finger as I found that it struggled with reading the first couple times. My favorite feature is definitely the way it auto locks on its own
